We would like to apologize about this page. Buck made us do it. He does not fancy himself a poet, but occasionally he writes short pieces of text with lines that do not reach the right margin, thus giving them the superficial appearance of poetry. Buck prefers to call them "scribblings" rather than "poems". If you read them, you'll see what he means. Here is a list of his scribblings, sorted in alphabetical order, all 15 of them. Again, we apologize in advance.

Title Pithy Excerpt
A 40th Birthday Poem I want to start from zero
I want to clean the slate
But the dust of Old Ideas
Obscures my thought of late
All I Once Knew all that I once knew...
Brief Engagement The lady smiled as she said to me
"Come, we must be married.
This is the morn of our wedding day,
Please, we must be going."
"I'm very sorry, ma'am," I said, "Look,
I'm not the man you think...."
Butterfly Dances butterfly dances on my porch...
By Fire In our fire ring, the rocks glow red inside.
Sparks escape from the flames and float and drift
Until extinguished by a breeze too swift....
Dream (of the Least of These) I heard Jesus was standing under Kyoto bridge
and went out to meet him, under the pretext of
going to get a snack.
Footprints footprints in the snow...
Fox and Vixen fox and his vixen...
Our Mother's Arms he said, "no man comes to the Father..."
Quick Brown Fox the quick brown fox jumps...
Quiet Dawn quiet of the dawn...
Tree Blossom I, the tree blossom...
Truth In the Snow The snow is falling to the ground.
No one else is around, only me...
Union In January naked
Cold ice and snow
Inside man cleaves to wife...
Wandering Moonlight wandering moonlight... along your skin...
